What Does A Car Chassis Number Look Like?

Vehicle Chassis NumberÂ

The chassis number of your vehicle is often required by repairers to ensure the correct part is ordered.

If a customer can give the repairer the vehicle chassis number over the telephone, it makes it easy to get an accurate quotation for the work required. How Do I find the vehicle chassis number? This will apply to most passenger carrying cars of the various body styles: Station wagons, coupes, liftbacks, sedans, but will exclude vans trucks and commercial vehicles: Look at the wall behind the motor (this is often referred to as the “firewall” and is the wall that separates the engine bay, and the vehicles dashboard in the cabin.)

The chassis number will in almost all cases be in the middle, at the top of the firewall and either stamped in the same colour as the paintwork, or on a silver “credit card” sized plate.

The above image shows the vehicles chassis number, with the silver plate attached to the firewall.
